Ruiz and Miller Battle to a Draw in Los Angeles
In a dramatic showdown at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, Andy Ruiz and Jarrell Miller faced off in a 12-round boxing match that ended in a majority decision draw. The atmosphere was electric as two judges scored the fight 114-114, while one judge saw it in favor of Miller at 116-112.
Ruiz came out strong, starting the fight with impressive energy. However, as the rounds progressed, he seemed to fade, and Miller, who hails from Brooklyn, New York, was unable to fully capitalize on that momentum.
After a slow start, Ruiz landed a combination of punches at the end of Round 1 that caught Miller off guard. In Round 2, Ruiz was quick with jabs, while Miller also managed to connect with a solid right cross that showcased his power.
As the fight continued, Miller began to step up his aggression. In Round 4, he targeted Ruiz’s head with strong right hands, and by Round 5, a series of left hooks from Miller momentarily stunned Ruiz. Miller’s strategy focused heavily on body shots, and he landed numerous effective blows that visibly affected Ruiz.
Despite Miller’s strong second half performance, he held back at times, and Ruiz, who appeared tired, did manage to throw a few impressive punches. However, they lacked the power to deter Miller’s advances.
After the bout, Miller confidently stated, “I know I did enough to win,” emphasizing his aggressive style and effective punch execution throughout the match.
Ruiz acknowledged an injury to his right hand, which had started causing him pain mid-fight. He expressed a desire for a rematch, reflecting on his time out of the ring since his last fight in September 2022 against Luis Ortiz.
The fight served as a reminder of Ruiz’s past successes, including his victory over Anthony Joshua in 2019. The crowd left with mixed feelings as both fighters expressed their hopes for another chance to compete against each other.
