The Indian National Flag is a symbol of pride and honor for every citizen. However, there are strict rules about who can display the flag on vehicles. According to the Flag Code of India, only certain dignitaries are permitted to hoist the flag on their cars.

These authorized individuals include high-ranking officials and constitutional dignitaries. For anyone else, displaying the flag on a vehicle is against the law. It’s important to remember that the government takes the dignity of the flag seriously, and there are legal consequences under the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971.

When the flag is displayed on a vehicle, it must be flown from a staff affixed to the car. This ensures that it is clearly visible. Moreover, the National Flag should never cover the sides, back, or top of the vehicle.

The condition of the flag also matters. It should always be in good shape; displaying a damaged flag is prohibited. Additionally, when the Indian flag is on a vehicle, no other flag or decoration can be placed next to it or above it.

Remember, showing respect for the flag goes beyond just following rules. Acts like intentionally setting the flag on fire or using it for decoration can lead to severe legal ramifications. Treating it with the dignity it deserves ensures that it remains a symbol of national pride.
