Ryley Batt, the celebrated wheelchair rugby superstar from Australia, is currently facing a critical decision regarding his future in the sport. Following the recent achievement of securing a Bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, Batt is preparing for surgery, highlighting the physical toll that the sport has taken on him.

In an impressive display of skill, Batt scored an outstanding 158 tries across five matches during the tournament. Despite this success, he returns home with his back injury still unresolved, held together only with tape. Alongside his new Bronze medal, Batt possesses an impressive collection of accolades which includes two Gold medals and one Silver from his previous Paralympic appearances.

In an interview with Ned Hall, Batt expressed the mental and physical challenges he faced while preparing for the upcoming Paris games. After an extensive 21-year career with the Steelers, the thought of leaving the sport and the Paralympic Games is proving difficult for him to navigate.
