Sabalenka Advances to French Open Quarterfinals in Domination of Navarro
World number two Aryna Sabalenka showcased a dominant performance as she breezed past American player Emma Navarro in the fourth round of the French Open 2024, held in Paris. The Belarusian powerhouse, seeking her first title in Paris, delivered a masterclass on the court.
Earlier this year, Navarro had caused an upset by defeating Sabalenka at Indian Wells. However, this time around, Sabalenka took control right from the start, securing an early break to go up 6-2, 6-3 in a match that lasted just over an hour.
The Australian Open champion exhibited her formidable baseline game, relentlessly hammering winners and pressuring Navarro’s vulnerable second serve. Sabalenka’s aggressive tactics paid off as she remained undefeated in her last 11 major matches, cementing her status as a top contender in the tournament.
In the quarterfinals, Sabalenka is set to face either Varvara Gracheva of France or the promising teenager Mirra Andreeva, setting the stage for an intriguing battle on the clay courts of Roland-Garros.
