Safety Measures Implemented as Department of Law Enforcement Resumes Execution of Writs and Evictions
The Department of Law Enforcement (DLE) has announced the resumption of court-ordered writs and eviction executions with enhanced safety measures in place.
In late April, following a critical incident in Waiʻanae, a safety stand-down was initiated by the DLE to review and refine eviction procedures.
Director Jordan Lowe emphasized the complexities of evictions, stating, ‘Evictions can be perilous and emotionally charged.’ The completion of the review has led to the implementation of additional guidance for law enforcement officers.
Community members seeking writs of possession or ejectment services are advised to contact the Sheriff Division during regular business hours from Monday to Friday, between 7:45 am and 4:30 pm.
For updates on previously requested writs, individuals can reach out to the Sheriff Division using the following contact numbers: Oʻahu at 808-587-3632, Kauaʻi at 808-482-2470, Maui at 808-244-2904, Hawaiʻi (Hilo) at 808-933-8835, or Hawaiʻi (Kona) at 808-322-8740.
