Sampdoria Eyes Inter Milan’s Ionut Andrei Radu on Transfer Deadline Day
Sampdoria is reportedly pursuing the acquisition of Inter Milan goalkeeper Ionut Andrei Radu as the summer transfer window draws to a close.
The management team at Inter Milan, led by Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio, is expected to have a relatively quiet deadline day, although some matters remain to be addressed.
Among these issues is the finalization of the transfer of Independiente Rivadavia defender Tomas, which appears to be imminent. Additionally, the club is keen on offloading some players, among whom is the 27-year-old goalkeeper Radu.
Radu recently completed an uninspiring loan period at Bournemouth and Inter Milan has faced difficulties finding a new club for him despite various links to potential suitors.
Reports suggest that Radu declined offers from Palermo and Sassuolo, as both clubs proposed only loan deals, while the goalkeeper is reportedly seeking a permanent transfer.
In the final hours of the summer transfer market, Sampdoria has reignited its interest in Radu. Sky Sport Italia has indicated that the Blucerchiati are engaged in discussions with both Inter Milan and the player himself.
Sampdoria had previously monitored the Romania international earlier in the summer, along with Filip Stankovic, who had spent the last season on loan at Luigi Ferraris. However, young goalkeeper Paolo Vismara impressed new head coach Andrea Pirlo during pre-season.
With Pirlo’s recent dismissal, Sampdoria has appointed Andrea Sottil, who may have different plans regarding the goalkeeper position.
Consequently, the club is eager to finalize the transfer of Radu before the summer transfer window closes. For Radu, this move would signify a return to the Luigi Ferraris stadium, where he played for Genoa in the past. His contract with Inter Milan is set to expire at the end of the current season.
