San Diego State Aztecs Dominate Yale, Advance to Sweet 16 Clash with UConn

In a commanding display of skill and power, the San Diego State Aztecs continued their impressive run in the NCAA Basketball Tournament by overpowering the Yale Bulldogs in a resounding 85-57 victory in the second round of the East Region. Led by the stellar performance of All-American Jaedon LeDee, who contributed 26 points on an impressive 9 of 12 shooting, the Aztecs asserted their dominance right from the start.

Opening the game with a blistering 10-0 run, San Diego State maintained their momentum throughout the matchup in Spokane, Washington. By the eight-minute mark, the Aztecs had built a substantial 28-12 lead, with LeDee single-handedly accounting for 15 of the team’s first 28 points.

Displaying their sharpshooting prowess, San Diego State showcased their three-point accuracy, hitting six of their first ten attempts from beyond the arc to extend their advantage to 18 points with just under seven minutes left in the first half. At halftime, the Aztecs held a commanding 45-21 lead, shooting an impressive 51% from the field and 47% from three-point range, with LeDee leading all scorers with 17 first-half points.

Coming out of halftime with unwavering focus, San Diego State continued their offensive onslaught, with Darrion Trammell contributing significantly by adding 18 points to the team’s total. The Aztecs closed the game with a season-high 13 three-pointers, converting 13 of 26 attempts from long range.

With this victory, the San Diego State Aztecs have advanced to the Sweet 16, where they are set to face off against the UConn Huskies in a highly anticipated clash in the East Regional, scheduled to take place in Boston, Massachusetts. UConn, the defending National Champions and the team that defeated SDSU in the 2023 national title game, will present a formidable challenge for the Aztecs, who enter the matchup with a 24-9 record, while UConn boasts a stellar 33-3 mark.
