In some exciting news from the 2024 Paris Olympics, Penn High School alum Sarah Hildebrandt is set to wrestle for gold in the women’s freestyle 50 kg competition. This talented 30-year-old from Granger made heads turn with her stellar performance, winning three matches on Tuesday to secure her spot in the finals.

Hildebrandt kicked off her Olympic journey with a bang, showcasing her skills in the Round of 16 where she achieved a dominating 10-0 victory over Algeria’s Ibtissem Doudou. This quick tech fall demonstrated her strength and technique right from the start of the tournament.

Her next match was against Ziqi Feng from China in the quarterfinals. The match was closely contested, but Hildebrandt managed to pull ahead with a 7-4 decision, edging her closer to the coveted gold medal.

Continuing her impressive streak, she faced Otgonjarga Dolgorjav of Mongolia in the semi-finals, winning decisively with a score of 5-0. With this victory, she’s not only become an Olympic finalist but also solidified her place among the world’s best wrestlers.

In the finals, Hildebrandt will go up against India’s Vinesh Phogat, who made headlines for her remarkable upset against four-time world champion Yui Susaki in the opening round. Their upcoming match is highly anticipated, especially since Hildebrandt looks to avenge a previous loss to Phogat from back in 2019.

As a four-time Senior World Championships medalist and a two-time national champion at King University, Hildebrandt’s journey to Olympic gold is an inspiring story in the making and one to keep an eye on in the coming days.
