King Salman, who ascended the throne after King Abdullah’s passing, has faced health challenges in the past, notably undergoing gallbladder surgery in 2020. His current ailment necessitates antibiotic treatment as confirmed by the Saudi authorities.

Following the news of King Salman’s health, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman had to reprioritize his diplomatic engagements. A planned visit to Japan was postponed due to the King’s medical condition, marking a shift in the Crown Prince’s official itinerary.

Saudi Arabia and Japan had scheduled a high-level business forum in Tokyo despite the deferment of the Crown Prince’s visit. Energy Minister Abdulaziz bin Salman and Investment Minister Khalid Al-Falih are representing the Kingdom at the economic event, fostering bilateral ties between the two nations.

Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi clarified the Crown Prince’s postponement due to the King’s health, emphasizing the importance of respecting the Saudi monarchy’s circumstances.
