Behind the Scenes of Hallmark’s ‘Three Wiser Men and a Boy’
The Hallmark Channel is once again preparing to delight its viewers with a heartwarming holiday sequel, «Three Wiser Men and a Boy.» This feature, set to premiere on November 23, picks up five years after the widely celebrated «Three Wise Men and a Baby,» which became the most-watched cable TV movie of 2022. This upcoming release promises to deliver the same festive spirit and humor that fans have come to expect from Hallmark’s «Countdown to Christmas» series.
Tyler Hynes, Andrew Walker, and Paul Campbell reprise their roles as the Brenner brothers—Taylor, Luke, and Stephan—who are endeavoring to save a school holiday musical from disaster. During an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, the cast opened up about the chemistry and camaraderie that make their performances genuine and engaging.
«I look over at [Andrew and Paul on set] and I think of all my childhood friends that I grew up with,» Hynes shared. «Imagine if they were in a movie with me? That’s what this feels like.» Describing a particularly comedic scene, Hynes mentioned how it was challenging to stay in character due to Walker’s facial expressions: «We just destroyed his coverage,» Campbell recalled.
The rapport among the actors is evident, as Walker stated, «We talk weekly,» highlighting a long-standing friendship that has translated well on screen. Campbell, who co-wrote the screenplay, noted that their dynamic resulted in many hilarious «breaking» moments during filming.
The film unfolds as Thomas, played by Miles Marthaller, requires his uncles’ aid in organizing a holiday play that eventually sees one of the brothers cast as the villain in «How the Grump Ruined Christmas.» The playful banter among the actors is often compared to the comedic stylings of British comedian John Cleese, with Walker particularly praising his co-star Campbell as being «like the John Cleese of Hallmark.»
Given the success of its predecessor, fans are curious whether a third installment is on the horizon. Campbell expressed, «Is there a third story? I don’t know. I think I’ll never say no,» acknowledging that while the network will play a key role in any decisions, the team possesses the creativity for another potential narrative.
As anticipation builds ahead of its release, «Three Wiser Men and a Boy» promises to deliver the familial warmth and humor that are hallmarks of Hallmark’s holiday offerings, keeping viewers entertained and hopeful for more tales from the Brenner brothers.
