Seattle Sounders FC Celebrates LGBTQ+ Pride Month with Community Initiatives
Seattle Sounders FC is marking Pride Month with a range of community engagements, underscoring their commitment to the LGBTQ+ community.
As part of their initiatives, Seattle Sounders FC, in partnership with Starbucks, Seattle Reign FC, and TransFamilies, welcomes gender diverse youth to the Providence Swedish Performance Center and Clubhouse for a special clinic.
The clinic offers soccer skills and free play opportunities, with attendees receiving Pride-themed t-shirts, water bottles from Starbucks, and soccer balls from RAVE Foundation.
In a display of inclusivity, the Progress Pride Flag, incorporating colors representing BIPOC and transgender individuals, will be raised at Lumen Field.
Sounders and Reign players, joined by local organizations and Starbucks, will hoist the flag in a ceremony ahead of the Pride match on June 22.
Seattle Sounders FC’s annual Pride match, presented by Starbucks, will feature community celebrations, LGBTQ+ food vendors curated by Intentionalist, and players donning Pride-themed attire.
The online auction of the pre-match tops will benefit RAVE Foundation, alongside TransFamilies, who will participate in the day’s events.
Collaborating with Intentionalist, Seattle Sounders FC is encouraging support for LGBTQ+-owned small businesses through the Receipt & Receive program.
Fans can win prizes by spending at LGBTQ+-owned establishments, with a goal of reaching $30,000 in support throughout June.
Lastly, Seattle Sounders FC will march in the Seattle Pride Parade on June 30, joining other sports teams in backing the LGBTQ+ community and championing equal rights and awareness.
