Security Detail Surrounding Former President Trump and Family Raises Concerns After Assassination Attempt
The recent attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump has once again highlighted the rigorous security measures in place for the protection of high-profile figures in the United States.
Donald Trump, who narrowly escaped a bullet during a public appearance, was shielded by his Secret Service detail, a team trained to safeguard the president and their family members.
After completing his first term in office in 2021, Donald Trump and his immediate family members, including Donald Jr., Ivanka, Eric, Tiffany, and Melania Trump received lifetime protection by the Secret Service.
Melania Trump, as the spouse of a former president, also continues to benefit from the Secret Service’s security detail.
Following the departure from the White House, Barron Trump, the youngest child of Donald and Melania Trump, turned 16 on March 20, 2022, making him eligible for autonomous security arrangements.
While Barron Trump is no longer automatically entitled to Secret Service protection, the Department of Homeland Security can still assign security coverage to family members as warranted.
As of now, it remains uncertain whether Barron Trump, now 18 and a high school graduate, has been placed under a continuing protective detail by the Secret Service.
