Security Incident: Kangana Ranaut Allegedly Slapped at Chandigarh Airport
Kangana Ranaut, the renowned Bollywood actor and recently elected Member of Parliament from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, found herself in a startling altercation at Chandigarh Airport. A security issue arose when a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) official allegedly slapped her during her travel to Delhi.
The CISF constable involved in the incident has been identified as Kulwinder Kaur and has since been suspended. An FIR has been lodged against her following Ranaut’s claim of the assault.
After the alleged slap, the constable reportedly cited Ranaut’s remarks on the ongoing farmers’ agitation in Punjab as the reason behind her actions. Ranaut had recently made controversial statements regarding women’s participation in the protests, which is believed to have triggered the altercation.
In an emotional video message posted on social media platform X following the incident, Ranaut expressed her concern over the escalating extremism in Punjab. She highlighted the need to address the growing violence and terrorism in the region.
Notably, Ranaut had faced criticism previously from the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee’s chief, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, for her comments during the farmers’ protests. The actor’s controversial stance on the issue had sparked outrage and calls for apology.
During the farmers’ protest, international pop star Rihanna had also weighed in on Twitter, drawing Ranaut’s response. The exchange had fueled further debate on the sensitive topic.
In a significant turn of events, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the withdrawal of the contentious farm laws in 2021 after months of protests by farmers across the country, marking a critical development in the ongoing agitation.
