Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Southern Ontario
A severe thunderstorm warning has ended in Windsor–Essex, but a severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect in several parts of southern Ontario.
Environment Canada meteorologists were monitoring a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts, up to nickel-size hail, and heavy rain across the region.
Impacted locations include Windsor, Leamington, Amherstburg, Kingsville, Lakeshore, LaSalle, McGregor, Essex, Pelee Island, and more.
Scattered thunderstorms entered the area in the afternoon and continued into the early evening as a cold front moved through the region.
Heavy downpours from the thunderstorms have the potential to cause flash floods and water pooling on roads, while strong wind gusts could lead to flying debris, damage to structures, and uprooted trees.
Residents are advised to take immediate cover if severe weather conditions approach.
