Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Fort Saskatchewan Region
A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued by Environment Canada for the Fort Saskatchewan region in Alberta, replacing the earlier tornado warning. The warning, prompted by severe storms near Lamont moving northeast, brings the potential for strong wind gusts, nickel to ping pong ball size hail, and heavy rain.
The advisory cautions that large hail can cause property damage and injuries, while strong wind gusts have the power to toss loose objects, damage buildings, and break tree branches. At a speed of 15 km/h, the storm’s movement necessitates immediate cover if the weather turns threatening.
Environment Canada issues such alerts when severe thunderstorms are expected to bring about large hail, strong winds, or torrential rainfall. The region remains on high alert as the severe weather conditions persist.
