Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued and Lifted Near Lethbridge
A severe thunderstorm warning was issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) for the City of Lethbridge on Thursday morning due to a nearly stationary storm located east of the city.
The alert was issued at 5:16 a.m. by ECCC, warning of very strong wind gusts and heavy rain expected from the storm, capable of causing significant impact.
As of 6:30 a.m., the storm remained stationary approximately 20 kilometers north of the hamlet of Etzikom, posing risks of flash floods and water pooling on roads.»
The bulletin from ECCC emphasized the potential for heavy downpours leading to flash floods, urging residents to take immediate cover if the storm approached their area.
After about 30 minutes, the agency lifted the severe thunderstorm warning, indicating a decrease in the immediate threat to the region.
