Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued for Multiple Alberta Areas
Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for several areas in Alberta, including Rocky Mountain House, Crimson Lake, James River, and Caroline. The warning came into effect at 5:54 PM on Thursday, July 11th.
According to the forecast, thunderstorms are expected to develop along the foothills and progress eastward as the evening progresses. These thunderstorms have the potential to bring about strong wind gusts, large hail, and heavy rainfall, posing risks to the affected regions.
The severe thunderstorms could produce large hailstones that may cause damage to property and pose a threat to personal safety. Additionally, the strong wind gusts associated with these storms could result in the displacement of loose objects, damage to weaker structures, tree branches breaking off, and even large vehicles being overturned.
Severe thunderstorm watches are issued by Environment Canada when atmospheric conditions are conducive to the formation of thunderstorms that have the capacity to yield one or more severe weather phenomena, including large hail, damaging winds, and torrential rainfall. Residents in the identified regions are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
