Severe Thunderstorm Watches in New Brunswick and Charlevoix Regions Lifted
Severe thunderstorm watches and warnings issued by Environnement Canada in New Brunswick and Charlevoix regions during the afternoon were lifted later in the evening on Sunday. The meteorological service had been monitoring conditions conducive to the formation of dangerous storms capable of producing damaging gusts and large hail.
Initial alerts covered most parts of New Brunswick, with specific warnings for regions like Restigouche. Around 4:45 PM, Environnement Canada issued a tornado alert for certain areas of New Brunswick, as its radar indicated a potential tornado near Renous and Gray Rapids.
The tornado warning was lifted shortly after its issuance.
In parallel, on the same day, an alert for severe thunderstorms affected the eastern area of Charlevoix around mid-afternoon. The meteorologists were primarily concerned about the possibility of strong gusts of wind, large hail, and heavy rainfall in the region.
This alert eventually transitioned into a watch for severe thunderstorms.
The western areas of Charlevoix region were also under a watch for severe thunderstorms as per the weather service reports.
