Severe Thunderstorms Sweep Across Alberta: Calgary Warning Lifted
Severe thunderstorms have swept across Alberta, with a warning issued for Calgary as a line of intense storms moved through the province Tuesday evening. The warning, issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) around 5 p.m., encompassed areas from Edmonton to Calgary, cautioning residents about the potential for very strong wind gusts.
The severity of the weather prompted meteorologists to alert the public about the possibility of storms producing large hail, damaging winds, and significant rainfall. By 6:30 p.m., the warning for Calgary had been lifted as the storms progressed eastward.
Reports indicated that the north end of Calgary experienced the brunt of the severe weather, with the airport recording wind gusts nearing 100 km/h. The impact of the storms was most felt in this region, highlighting the intensity of the weather system as it moved through.
