Severe Weather Alert Issued for Green Bay and Surrounding Areas
The National Weather Service has issued a FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY for regions including Green Bay, with gusty winds and wind-driven rain expected to impact travel starting tonight and into Tuesday morning. According to forecasts, winds may reach speeds surpassing 40 mph, posing challenges particularly for high-profile vehicles navigating high bridges such as the Leo Frigo Memorial Bridge.
Precipitation levels over the next 24 hours are projected to accumulate between 0.5 to over 1 inch. Although the rain is set to taper off by Tuesday afternoon, winds should also diminish by that time. Meteorologists report that temperatures will drop to the mid-40s this evening, yet they are expected to climb to the upper 50s by early Tuesday afternoon.
Weather conditions on Tuesday mark the end of a recent mild spell, as cooler temperatures in the 40s are expected to return by Wednesday. Winds will add a brisk chill, making it feel like temperatures are in the 30s. While the possibility of showers exists, many areas might remain dry.
The forecast indicates the likelihood of an additional FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY on Thursday morning. This is due to anticipated high winds and potential slushy snow accumulation, which could disrupt morning commutes to both work and school. The Fox Valley and Lakeshore areas have a heightened chance of receiving up to one or two inches of snow.
As the week unfolds, chilly and breezy, yet relatively calm, conditions will prevail. The start of Wisconsin‘s gun-deer season on Saturday will see temperatures ranging from the 30s to low 40s, with wind chills potentially dropping into the 20s and 30s. Forecasts suggest that winds will subside just in time for Sunday’s Green Bay Packers game, although temperatures during the game are likely to remain in the 30s.
Looking further ahead, meteorologists are observing a developing weather system that might impact the region by the middle of next week, coinciding with the busy holiday travel period.
Residents are encouraged to stay informed through local weather updates. The updated weather graphics are now available in the newly organized First Alert Map Room. Furthermore, the WBAY First Alert Weather App, accessible via both the Apple App Store and Google Play, offers regular weather updates.
