Severe Weather Alerts Issued for Western Iowa and Eastern Nebraska
The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for extreme western Iowa and eastern Nebraska until 10:00 p.m. The affected counties under the watch include Cherokee, Fremont, Harrison, Ida, Lyon, Mills, Monona, O’Brien, Osceola, Plymouth, Pottawattamie, Sioux, and Woodbury.
Severe thunderstorms originating in eastern Nebraska are expected to advance eastward into western Iowa this evening. All forms of severe weather, such as large hail, damaging winds, and an isolated tornado, are possible. These weather hazards are anticipated through midnight. Localized heavy and potentially flooding rains may also ensue, possibly leading to flash flooding in specific areas if multiple storms converge on those locations.
