Millions of people from the Plains and Midwest to the Great Lakes are facing a multiday severe weather threat with thunderstorms capable of producing large hail, damaging wind gusts and possible tornadoes.

As the Republican National Convention gears up to commence in Milwaukee, attendees and politicians will have to navigate increased security measures amidst recent security concerns.

Following a recent incident involving an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump at a rally, the convention is set to proceed as planned with heightened security in place. Trump, taking to his social media platform Truth Social, affirmed his intention to participate in the RNC despite the recent events.

Event organizers at Fiserv Forum are bracing for potentially severe weather conditions forecasted to bring strong storms, hail, and the looming possibility of tornadoes to the Milwaukee area.

NOAA‘s Storm Prediction Center has issued a severe weather risk warning for various areas, including Milwaukee, marking a 2 out of 5 risk for severe thunderstorms on the opening day of the convention. Cities nearby, such as , are facing an even higher risk level with a 3 out of 5 risk stated by the SPC.

The FOX Forecast Center is closely monitoring the situation, with storms predicted to develop over Milwaukee in the afternoon, potentially affecting the Fiserv Forum venue around 3 p.m.

Expected outcomes from the thunderstorms include large hail and damaging wind gusts, with a low but present risk of tornadoes in the Milwaukee region.

Looking ahead, a more pleasant weather pattern is anticipated for the latter part of the week as calmer and drier conditions are expected post the passage of a cold front. Temperatures during the event days are predicted to range in the mid-to-low 70s with some cloud cover.

The Republican National Convention, set to kick off on Monday and continue through Thursday in Milwaukee, will see Donald Trump taking the stage to accept the Republican Party nomination for the presidential race.
