In a surprising turn of events, former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has stepped down from her role after days of intense protests across the country. She resigned earlier today and took off from Dhaka in a military aircraft, currently flying over Indian air space.

Reports indicate that her flight, an Air Force C-130, was first spotted over Gaya and is expected to end up either in Delhi or possibly head towards the UK. The resignation comes amid growing unrest, with thousands of citizens demanding change in the capital.

Upon leaving Dhaka, Hasina took a helicopter to Kurmiltola before boarding the military plane. The Border Security Force (BSF) has been put on high alert, and their Director General has arrived in Kolkata to monitor the situation.

In an address to the nation, Army Chief Waker-uz-Zaman announced that an interim government would be established to restore peace in Bangladesh. He urged citizens to refrain from violence and mentioned an investigation into recent killings linked to the protests.

Pinak Ranjan Chakravarty, a former Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, remarked on the significant pressure facing Hasina’s government. He suggested that the army’s role in the resignation points to the depth of the crisis.

Images flooding social media depict chaotic scenes as crowds stormed the Prime Minister’s official residence in Dhaka, causing extensive damage as they expressed their anger over the political situation.
