Shiloh Jolie Petitions to Drop Pitt from Surname Amid Legal Battle
Actor Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, daughter of Hollywood stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has taken legal action to drop ‘Pitt’ from her surname. The petition was submitted to a Los Angeles court on her 18th birthday, making her formally known as Shiloh Jolie.
Shiloh is the third-eldest among the six children of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. She follows in the steps of her siblings, with Vivienne previously dropping the Pitt surname in a Playbill program for ‘The Outsiders‘ on Broadway. Zahara Marley Jolie, another sibling, recently introduced herself with the Jolie surname after joining the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority at Spelman College.
Shiloh, who has contributed as a voice actor in ‘Kung Fu Panda 3,’ is the first sibling to file an official petition for a legal name change. The move comes amidst the ongoing divorce battle between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, who have been in legal disputes since their separation in September 2016.
Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt, and the couple is yet to reach a settlement agreement. One of the key points of contention is the ownership of Chateau Miraval, a French winery acquired during their marriage. The legal tussle over the winery continues to play a significant role in their unresolved divorce proceedings.
The divorce battle between Jolie and Pitt has seen numerous disagreements, including disputes over shared property and business ventures such as Château Miraval. In early 2022, Pitt sued Jolie and her company, Nouvel, alleging that Jolie sold her stake in Château Miraval without his consent to a Russian oligarch.
As the legal drama unfolds, both actors have filed lawsuits against each other. The ongoing custody battle and financial disputes further complicate the already protracted divorce proceedings between the Hollywood power couple.
