On the second death anniversary of the late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, his family organized a modest event in the district of Mansa to honor his memory. The event was kept simple due to the scorching heatwave and ongoing elections, with a request made to avoid large gatherings.
The father of Sidhu Moosewala, Balkaur Singh, informed that the commemoration was limited to close family members and villagers in attendance. He emphasized that only essential religious rituals would be conducted during the event.
Leading up to the anniversary, local residents in Mansa expressed their tributes to the beloved artist by installing statues, busts, and photographs of Moosewala around the area. Local shops also displayed memorabilia such as t-shirts and coffee mugs featuring Moosewala’s likeness.
Charan Kaur, Moosewala’s mother, took to Instagram to share an emotional post on the occasion of her son’s second death anniversary. She expressed profound emotions, mentioning how Sidhu Moosewala’s memory continues to live on in their hearts.
Sidhu Moosewala tragically lost his life on May 29, 2022, when he was fatally shot in Mansa, Punjab. The Punjab police had implicated Canada-based singer Goldy Brar and gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in connection with the murder.
The untimely demise of the singer sparked controversy and political tensions in Punjab, with calls for accountability and justice. Moosewala had previously contested in the 2019 assembly election from Mansa but was defeated by AAP’s Vijay Singla.
