Simone Biles Aims for Record at 2024 Paris Olympics
When the 2024 Paris Olympics roll around, one athlete is sure to grab everyone’s attention: Simone Biles. The American gymnast is no stranger to the spotlight, boasting an impressive collection of seven Olympic medals, out of which four are gold. She has also dominated the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, securing six golds in the all-around competition.
But it’s not just about the medals for Biles. Her talent and athleticism shine through every time she competes. When you watch Simone perform, you realize she’s not just executing complicated moves; she’s doing them with a level of grace and skill that sets her apart from the rest. Her ability to float into the air during her routines is something that leaves spectators in awe.
As she gears up for the Paris Olympics, Biles has the chance to make gymnastics history by becoming only the third gymnast ever to win the all-around gold several times. Standing at just 4-foot-8, she’s on the shorter side for a gymnast, yet that doesn’t hold her back. In fact, four out of the last five women to take the Olympic all-around gold have been at least 5 feet tall.
What’s even more jaw-dropping is her vertical leap. During her floor routine at the recent US Olympic Gymnastics Trials, Biles reached heights of up to 12 feet. To put that in perspective, that’s high enough for her to jump over Victor Wembanyama, who is a towering 7-foot-4 and one of the tallest players in the NBA.
Competitive gymnastics floors have springs that help athletes land safely while boosting their jumps, yet Biles’ height during her jumps is still an incredible feat. This will be Biles’ third appearance at the Olympics; at 27 years old, she may become the oldest woman to win the all-around since 1952, as well as the oldest American to snag a medal in women’s gymnastics since 1948.
In the upcoming games, eyes will be on her as she competes against her teammates, including Hezly Rivera, who’s yet to have her height officially released by Team USA.
