Spain Triumphs Over England in Euro 2024 Final: Yamal and Oyarzabal Shine
Spain secured a historic victory over England in the UEFA Euro 2024 final, claiming their fourth European Championship title. The intense final at Olympiastadion in Berlin saw the match remain goalless in the first half.
In the 47th minute, the young talent Lamine Yamal set up Nico Williams for an exquisite strike past England’s goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, breaking the deadlock and putting Spain in the lead.
Despite Spain’s continuous pressure, it was in the 73rd minute that England managed to equalize as Cole Palmer skillfully finished a well-worked team move, leveling the score at 1-1.
The game intensified as both teams sought a winner, with Pickford making crucial saves, including one from a powerful shot by Yamal in the 82nd minute.
However, Spain had the final say as in the 86th minute, Mikel Oyarzabal found the back of the net after a precise set-up from Marc Cucurella, sealing a 2-1 victory for La Roja.
England pushed desperately for an equalizer in the closing moments, but Spain’s defense held firm to clinch the title.
The defeat marked England’s second consecutive disappointment in a Euro final, having lost to Italy in the previous edition. The English team has never won the European Championship.
