SpiceJet Staff Member Arrested for Allegedly Slapping CISF Officer Over Security Dispute at Jaipur Airport
A SpiceJet staff member was apprehended on Thursday after reportedly striking a Central Industrial Security Force officer during a disagreement concerning security screening at Jaipur Airport. The airline described the incident as a severe case of sexual harassment. The altercation, captured on CCTV footage, showed the woman moving towards the officer and delivering a slap to his face.
A female constable then intervened to separate them. An assault case has been filed against Anuradha Rani following a complaint from the CISF officer, while the airline has initiated legal action.
SpiceJet alleged that their employee faced inappropriate language and even received a request from the CISF officer to visit him at his residence after duty hours.
Police stated that Rani was initially reported as a food supervisor, but the airline specified her as a female security staff member.
The CISF complaint outlined a confrontation during Rani’s entry through the vehicle gate at the airport around 4 am, where she was halted by ASI Giriraj Prasad for purportedly lacking authorization for that entrance.
Rani was directed to proceed to the nearby entrance designated for airline crew screening, but no female CISF personnel were present at the moment. The argument escalated, leading to the alleged slap.
Contrarily, the SpiceJet spokesperson contended that Rani possessed a valid airport entry pass for the gate and emphasized the unacceptability of the CISF officer’s behavior towards their employee.
A case has been registered against Rani under sections 121 (1) and 132 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for voluntarily causing hurt to hinder a public servant from performing duties and assaulting a public servant, respectively.
