Stars Reunite at ELLE’s Women in Hollywood Celebration
The 2024 ELLE Women in Hollywood celebration served as a poignant reunion for the cast of the 1995 coming-of-age film «Now and Then.» The event took place at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles at Beverly Hills on November 19, bringing together Demi Moore, Melanie Griffith, Rosie O'Donnell, and Rita Wilson.
The actresses, who have maintained a close friendship since their collaboration nearly three decades ago, celebrated their reunion in style. O’Donnell, known for her roles in film and television, emphasized the significance of the film, remarking, «The movie was produced by women, written by a woman, directed by a woman, and starring primarily women.»
Moore, who turned heads in a shimmering gold sequin dress, was acknowledged by her co-stars for her groundbreaking work not only in «Now and Then» but also as a successful producer in Hollywood. Rita Wilson noted, «Demi was a box-office star in her own right, playing strong, complicated women in a string of successful hits.»
While reflecting on the impact of «Now and Then,» the movie’s origins and overtones were fondly remembered. O’Donnell jested about Moore’s trailblazing appearance on one particular film’s cover, alluding to the level of fame and media coverage celebrities manage today.
The ELLE event also recognized an array of other leading ladies in Hollywood such as Danielle Deadwyler, Karla Sofía Gascón, Selena Gomez, Mikey Madison, Julianne Moore, Saoirse Ronan, Zoe Saldaña, and Tilda Swinton. These honorees were celebrated for their significant cultural and creative contributions.
Esteemed presenters such as Cameron Diaz, John David Washington, and Willem Dafoe graced the stage. The poignant evening was complemented by opening remarks from ELLE Editor-in-Chief Nina Garcia, with notable actors like Pedro Almodóvar speaking later in the night.
Numerous stars from across the entertainment industry joined the gathering, making it a star-studded affair that celebrated the achievements and influence of women in Hollywood.
