Steelers Struggle in Preseason Opener Against Texans
The Pittsburgh Steelers had a tough start to their preseason, losing 20-12 to the Houston Texans. During the game, both the offense and defense struggled, leaving head coach Mike Tomlin looking frustrated after the final whistle.
Quarterbacks Justin Fields and Kyle Allen took charge during the game, but Fields only had three series to show what he could do. He completed five out of six passes but faced some challenges with the snaps from center Nate Herbig.
Tomlin spoke about Fields’ performance, highlighting that while there were some good plays, the two fumbled snaps really overshadowed those positives. He emphasized that both the quarterback and center share the responsibility for the exchange, making it clear that the mistakes cost the team valuable opportunities early in the game.
Even though Fields tried to take the blame off Herbig, he admitted that they need to work on their communication. He noted that it’s important to be on the same page and adjust to whoever is playing in the center position.
Looking ahead, Tomlin pointed out that there were still some good moments during the game that the team can build on. They have the chance to improve and bounce back in their next matchup against the Buffalo Bills, and fans are hopeful to see better coordination on the field.
