Stirling and Strathallan Constituency Prepares for Election Day with Voter ID Requirement
Voters in the Stirling and Strathallan constituency are gearing up for the UK General Election scheduled for Thursday, 4 July. This election marks a significant change as the Scottish electorate will be required to present photo ID or their Voter Authority Certificate when casting their votes at polling stations.
The Electoral Commission has outlined accepted forms of photo ID, which include a passport, driving licence, older person’s or disabled person’s bus pass, and the Young Scot card. Voters can even use expired ID if they are still recognizable from the photo.
On polling day, polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm, and voters must visit their designated polling place based on their address. It’s essential for voters to check the location of their polling station beforehand, as it might have changed since the last election.
All postal votes in the Stirling and Strathallan constituency have been delivered, and voters who opted for postal voting must return their completed postal packs on polling day. Those who haven’t received their postal vote can request a replacement from the Returning Officer at Old Viewforth, Stirling.
For voters who appoint a proxy, the proxy will need to go to the polling station on their behalf and show their own photo ID when casting the vote. It’s important to note that the proxy must vote before the actual voter to avoid duplication.
