Stockport County Kicks Off Kits By County Initiative to Get Kids Active
Stockport County and the County Community Trust are teaming up for a great cause: getting PE kits into the hands of children in Stockport’s primary schools. The new initiative, called Kits By County, aims to raise over £100,000 this season to provide up to 12,000 PE kits for those who need them the most.
To help kickstart this campaign, the Club has already contributed by donating £2 from every new adult shirt sold. They’ve also been busy with the EFL League Two trophy tour, which has raised over £17,000 so far! But they can’t do it alone; local businesses are being called upon to join the effort.
Each PE kit costs around £20, meaning that every £1,000 raised will provide 50 kits to schools or families struggling with costs, especially amid the current living crisis. Alison Warwood, CEO of County Community Trust, shared her thoughts on how businesses can get involved.
Alison says there are plenty of ways for companies to support Kits By County. They can make donations as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility efforts or encourage their employees to organize fundraising events. Plus, the Club might have some prizes or merchandise to offer as a way to inspire participation.
The community really needs this initiative, especially since nearly half of the children in Stockport are leaving primary school overweight. Alison explains how lacking the right PE kit can contribute to this issue, making it even more essential to provide kits to those in need.
In summary, local companies backing this campaign can help make a real difference in the lives of children by keeping them engaged in physical activity. They’re hopeful that with the support of the community, they will be able to address this challenge by providing essential kits to families and schools with the greatest need.
