Stree 2 Trailer Drops: Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor Return in Spooky Sequel
The much-anticipated trailer for the horror-comedy sequel, Stree 2, has been released, reigniting the eerie charm of the first film. Starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, the sequel picks up where the original storyline of Chanderi being haunted by a female ghost, known as Stree, left off in 2018.
However, in this latest installment, the town faces a new diabolical entity named ‘Sarkata,’ setting the stage for another thrilling showdown. Rajkummar Rao, alongside Abhishek, Pankaj Tripathi, and Aparshakti Khurana, is seen leading the charge against this fresh menace. Joining the ensemble cast is Tamannaah Bhatia, adding a new dimension to the unfolding narrative.
Director Amar Kaushik’s vision shines through as Shraddha Kapoor reprises her role as the enigmatic spirit to protect Chanderi’s residents from Sarkata’s malevolent presence. Instead of the familiar chant, the townsfolk now plea, ‘O stree raksha karna,’ signaling a shift in the spiritual dynamics.
The trailer offers a spine-chilling yet humorous sneak peek into the battle with Sarkata, blending moments of dread with witty one-liners. Pankaj Tripathi’s character humorously brands Sarkata as an ‘influencer’ seeking to amass followers, injecting a quirky touch to the narrative.
Stree 2 continues the established universe crafted by the creators at Maddock Films and Jio Studios, with the horror-comedy franchise expanding to include titles like Roohi, Bhediya, and Munjya. The seamless integration of characters from previous installments, such as Varun Dhawan and Abhishek Banerjee’s cameos in Abhay Verma and Sharvari Wagh’s Munjya, hints at a shared universe awaiting fans.
Under the production banner of Dinesh Vijan and Jyoti Deshpande, Stree 2 promises a riveting tale of supernatural encounters and comic relief, set to hit theaters on August 15, cascading audiences into a world where the ordinary collides with the extraordinary.
