Sumit Antil Secures Gold with Record Throw at Paris 2024 Paralympics
In an impressive display of athleticism, India’s Sumit Antil has clinched the gold medal in the men’s javelin throw F64 event at the Paris 2024 Paralympics. Antil achieved this remarkable feat with a spectacular throw measuring 70.59 meters, which not only secured the gold but also set a new Paralympic Games record.
Antil’s victory adds to India’s medal tally, bringing it to three gold medals in the ongoing Paralympic event. His exceptional performance signifies the dedication and talent present within Indian athletes, showcasing their capabilities on an international stage.
Earlier in the day, para badminton star Nitesh Kumar also contributed to India’s success by winning the gold medal in the Men’s Singles SL3 final. Additionally, Suhas Yathiraj and Thulasimathi Murugesan earned silver medals in their respective events, while Manisha Ramadass secured a bronze medal.
Furthermore, the Indian archery team saw success with armless archer Sheetal Devi and her teammate Rakesh Kumar taking home a bronze in the mixed team compound event. Yogesh Kathuniya had already set the tone for the day by winning a silver medal in the Men’s Discus Throw F56 Final.
