Residents across the Sunshine Coast are preparing for a day of solemn commemorations as ANZAC Day services are set to take place throughout the region. From the iconic beaches of Alexandra Headland to the hinterland towns of Maleny and Montville, communities are gearing up to pay their respects to Australia’s service men and women.

Beerwah, Bli Bli, Buderim, Caloundra, and Coolum-Peregian are among the towns that will see residents gather at dawn services and take part in marches to honor the fallen.

In Cooroy and the Glass House Mountains, ceremonies will be held to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country, while Kawana and Kenilworth will host services to bring the communities together in reflection.

The towns of Landsborough, Mapleton, Maroochydore, Montville, and Mooloolaba will also see crowds gather at various locations to mark the day of remembrance.

Mudjimba, Nambour, Tewantin-Noosa, Woodford, and Yandina will host their own services, each with a unique program to honor the sacrifices of the ANZACs.

Notable events in the region include the dawn service at Mount Coolum captured by photographer Timothy Bell, and the unveiling of the plans for the refurbishment of a historic hotel by the Comiskey Group, adding to the significance of the day in the Sunshine Coast.

As the community gathers to pay tribute, residents are also looking ahead to the possibility of surf lifesaving being featured at the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games, with support from International Life, in a move championed by local legends and stakeholders in the sport.

In a different note, conservationist and TV personality Robert Irwin expressed gratitude at having a new species of snail named after him, further solidifying the region’s unique connection to individuals who make a mark on the world stage.

ANZAC Day remains a poignant reminder of sacrifice and unity for communities across the Sunshine Coast, with each town and suburb coming together to remember and honor those who served.
