The Supreme Court has commenced the hearing on the NEET UG controversy today. Following the declaration of results on 5th May, several students and coaching institutes have filed petitions against the National Testing Agency (NTA).

The bench led by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, along with Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Mishra, is currently hearing these NEET petitions. The updates of this hearing will be provided in real-time through this live blog.

The central government has stood against the demand for cancellation of the NEET exam. The Ministry of Education filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court opposing the plea to cancel the NEET exam. They argue that the alleged irregularities occurred only in specific centers like Patna and Godhra and do not warrant canceling the entire exam.

Highlighting that the entire examination is not compromised by individual malpractices and paper leaks, the government believes that canceling the exam process would be more harmful for the educational careers of millions of students. The CBI is investigating the paper leak issue in the NEET examination.

In a petition filing regarding the NEET issue, advocate Abdullah Mohammad Faiz informed the Supreme Court about ongoing CBI investigation across six FIRs, including one self-filed case and five from multiple states like Rajasthan, Bihar, and Jharkhand. The presence of these cases confirms the leakage of the NEET paper disseminated across various states.
