Team USA Wins Gold in Swimming at Paris Olympics

In an exciting start to the 2024 Paris Olympics, Team USA clinched its first gold medal in the men’s 4×100 meter freestyle relay. The team, including swimmers Jack Alexy, Chris Guiliano, Hunter Armstrong, and Caeleb Dressel, dominated the race, finishing 1.07 seconds ahead of silver medalist Australia. This victory marked another milestone for Dressel, bringing his total Olympic gold medals to eight.

Earlier in the day, Sarah Bacon and Kassidy Cook scored the first medal for Team USA by taking silver in the women’s 3-meter synchronized springboard diving event. They totaled 314.64 points, trailing behind China‘s reigning champions, Chang Yani and Chen Yiwen.

The competition continued with the women’s 400-meter freestyle, where Australia’s Ariarne Titmus successfully defended her title, leaving American legend Katie Ledecky with a bronze medal. Titmus finished the race in 3:57.49, with Canadian swimmer Summer McIntosh taking silver in 3:58.37.

As the games continue, Team USA is keen on adding more medals to their tally. The excitement is high, with athletes from various sports competing fiercely for Olympic glory in Paris. So far, the U.S. has secured a total of five medals: one gold, two silver, and two bronze.
