Technical Glitch Strands Riders on Knott’s Berry Farm Attraction
In an incident at Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park, California, approximately 20 individuals were left stranded on the Sol Spin ride due to technical difficulties on Monday afternoon. According to a statement from a Knott’s Berry Farm spokesperson, the ride came to a halt around 2:00 p.m., prompting immediate efforts to safely evacuate the guests.
Rescue operations were observed from a news helicopter, Air7, at around 3:30 p.m. Mechanics were seen employing a crane to work on the ride, endeavoring to resolve the issue and enable the ride’s movement.
After over an hour, the mechanics successfully lowered the ride to ground level, allowing the stranded riders to disembark. Of the evacuees, two individuals were transported in wheelchairs, although the specifics of their conditions remain undisclosed.
Throughout the ordeal, the ride maintained a horizontal position, with passengers visible in sideways leaning positions rather than hanging upside down. The Sol Spin ride, known for its high-speed spins and rotations in three dimensions, is situated in the park’s Fiesta Village section.
This situation is a developing news story, and further details will be released as they become available. Knott’s Berry Farm has yet to provide additional comments on the incident’s cause or the ride’s operational status moving forward.
