Teen Injured After Falling from Ride at Canada’s Wonderland
A 17-year-old teenage girl sustained injuries after falling from a ride at Canada’s Wonderland amusement park located in Vaughan, Ontario. The incident, which occurred on Thursday afternoon, prompted a response from the York Regional Police.
Const. James Dickson of the York Regional Police stated that authorities received a call around 2:45 p.m. regarding the girl’s fall. Following an investigation, it was determined that the incident was of a medical nature, with no criminal activity involved.
The ride in question, known as the Swing of the Century, reported a ‘guest injury’ at 2:35 p.m. as confirmed by Grace Peacock, the communications director for Canada’s Wonderland. Park medical staff and York Regional Paramedic Services quickly responded, transporting the injured guest to a hospital for treatment.
Grace Peacock mentioned in an email that an ongoing incident investigation is taking place, emphasizing the park’s commitment to guest and staff safety. The Technical Standards and Safety Authority, responsible for ride inspections, visited the scene and deemed the ride to be without fault.
Described on the Canada’s Wonderland website, the Swing of the Century is characterized as a family-friendly chair swing ride with seats suspended from a rotating and slanting tower. Riders experience a circular motion as the tower ascends, providing a thrilling experience for park visitors.
