Nigerian Singer Tekno Performing

There was a bit of a scare in the music world recently when rumors started swirling that Nigerian singer and producer Tekno had passed away. The buzz all began after a video surfaced online showing a man collapsing during a live performance, leading many to think it was Tekno.

However, Tekno himself took to Instagram to set the record straight. He assured his fans that he was very much alive and kicking, adding some humor to the situation. ‘Hey guys, I’m hale and hearty and not currently in South Africa,’ he wrote. He also expressed concern for the unknown person in the video.

The rumors picked up traction earlier this week, with claims that Tekno collapsed on stage while performing in South Africa. In response to the uproar, he made it clear that he wasn’t the one in the viral clip.

Fans were quick to express their relief in the comments. One fan said, ‘Thank God, I feel better now,’ while others voiced their frustration over the false news circulating. A user even asked, ‘Who is carrying this kind of news?’ giving voice to the confusion many were feeling.

Interestingly, Nigerian artist Mr Eazi chimed in on the conversation with a light-hearted jab, noting that Tekno was in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, rather than South Africa. This only added fuel to the conversation as people tried to piece together what was really happening.

As discussions continued, some social media users pointed out that the man in the viral video was actually Prezzo, a rapper from Kenya. They encouraged others to check out old videos of him online, reminding everyone to double-check their information before spreading news.
