Tesla Launches First V4 Supercharger in Canada
Tesla has officially opened its first V4 Supercharger in Canada, located in Langley, British Columbia. This new installation marks an important milestone for Tesla and its charging infrastructure, as it is the first of its kind in the country.
Initially launched in March 2023 in the Netherlands, Tesla’s V4 Superchargers have expanded through Europe before making their way to North America. The first V4 installation in the United States appeared in Oregon approximately eight months later, highlighting the gradual roll-out of this advanced charging technology.
The Langley Supercharger, situated at the Riocan Langley Centre (20090 Langley Bypass), was activated on Thursday night. Notably, it is one of the most affordable Supercharger options in Canada, charging Tesla owners $0.21 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) and $0.26 for non-Tesla EV drivers.
While the V4 Supercharger maintains the same charging speeds as its predecessor, the V3 Supercharger, there is an added advantage for non-Tesla electric vehicle (EV) users. The longer charging cables provided at the V4 stations allow these drivers to plug in more conveniently with their NACS adapters.
Although Tesla refers to this new charging technology as V3.5 due to the use of similar cabinets, the Langley site represents the latest advancements in Tesla’s commitment to expanding EV charging accessibility in Canada. Plans for additional V4 Supercharger installations in the region are forthcoming, signaling further expansion of Tesla’s network.
