The Health and Human Services Commission in Texas is actively engaging in Mental Health Awareness Month activities, aiming to shed light on mental health issues through a series of events and resources.

Among the lineup of initiatives are interactive webinars, training sessions, and engaging discussions on art therapy, eating disorders, and the dangers of fentanyl.

The upcoming Texas Mental Health Creative Arts Contest reception, organized in collaboration with the Texas System of Care and the University of Texas at Austin, will celebrate the winners with a showcase of their artwork and poetry, punctuated by a Q&A panel and speeches from HHSC leaders.

Amidst the pressing concern of fentanyl-related deaths in Texas, a parent-focused webinar will provide insight into the dangers of the synthetic opioid and offer practical advice on safeguarding loved ones from potential poisonings.

Furthermore, a panel discussion will highlight the challenges faced by disadvantaged groups in navigating the recovery system, emphasizing the importance of finding necessary resources for both recovery and career advancement.

Attendees of another workshop will delve into suicide prevention, stress management, and burnout combat strategies, with an emphasis on recognizing warning signs and prioritizing self-care.

Additionally, caregivers will be equipped with tools to support their own mental health in a dedicated presentation.

Throughout the month, the Health and Human Services Commission will amplify behavioral health messages on various social media platforms, including Facebook, X, and Instagram, to promote self-care and mental wellness.
