The first round of the Texas high school football playoffs has concluded, with numerous schools from the Texas Panhandle advancing following their performances this week. Teams from the Amarillo area showcased their strength in bi-district matchups, maintaining a regional presence across various classifications.

Among the noteworthy teams, Sunray and Gruver upheld their undefeated seasons, securing significant victories on Thursday and Friday respectively. Sunray triumphed over Olton with a score of 41-0, while Gruver achieved a 49-6 victory against Morton. Both teams’ continued success emphasizes their prowess on the field this season.

Additionally, Wellington and Dalhart demonstrated defensive dominance, each achieving shutouts in their games. Wellington defeated Petrolia 36-0, and Dalhart conquered Denver City with a remarkable 56-0 scoreline, further elucidating their defensive capabilities going into the next round.

The advancing teams from the Panhandle are now preparing for the challenging area round of the playoffs, scheduled to commence on Thursday, November 21. This phase promises to be a formidable test for the teams, as they seek to maintain momentum against rigorous competition.
