Denton Guyer Quarterback Florida State

A notable development has occurred in college football recruiting as a Denton (Texas) Guyer three-star quarterback has altered his commitment from the University of Oklahoma to Florida State University (FSU), according to a report by On3‘s Hayes Fawcett. The quarterback had initially pledged his allegiance to the Sooners back on March 13. However, he has recently decided to change course as the Early Signing Period approaches, now opting for Tallahassee as his future destination.

The player is ranked as the No. 448 overall prospect and the No. 31 quarterback in the 2025 cycle by the On3 Industry Composite, which is a weighted average that compiles rankings from all four major recruiting media companies. Within Texas, he holds the position of the No. 65 recruit.

Prior to this commitment, FSU had a long-standing pledge from Jacksonville Mandarin four-star quarterback, but the in-state quarterback decommitted last week and subsequently committed to the Florida Gators. With the new commitment, Sperry becomes part of Florida State’s recruitment class, which now includes 13 total commitments.

As a high school senior, he has delivered an impressive performance over 11 games, amassing over 2,000 passing yards and securing 21 touchdowns against seven interceptions. His team, Guyer, is currently 8-3, and in the midst of a playoff run, with their upcoming game against Pearce scheduled for this Friday.

The addition of the new quarterback bolsters FSU’s standing, elevating their recruitment class to the No. 25 spot nationally according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. While the recruiting trail has proved to be challenging this fall, FSU, led by their coaching staff, is looking to end strong in the final two weeks leading up to National Signing Day.

Leading the recruitment class is Jacksonville Raines five-star interior offensive lineman. Holding the rank of No. 32 nationally and No. 2 for interior offensive linemen, he remains the top commit in the class. The class also features Greensboro (Ga.) Greene County four-star defensive lineman as another top prospect.

Additional high-ranking recruits include Fort Valley (Ga.) Houston County four-star interior offensive lineman, Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage four-star running back, De Kalb (Miss.) Kemper County four-star offensive tackle, Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage four-star safety, and Omaha (Neb.) Millard South four-star tight end, rounding out the top of Florida State’s recruiting class.
