A trained tiger handler sustained injuries after being mauled by a tiger while on duty at Dreamworld, a popular theme park located on the Gold Coast of Australia. The incident occurred on Monday morning, prompting immediate medical attention for the injured woman.

Emergency services reported that the woman, who is in her 30s, was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital with multiple lacerations to her arm. Her condition has been described as stable.

A spokesperson for Dreamworld confirmed the rare incident, stating, «Dreamworld acknowledges an incident that occurred involving one of the park’s tigers and a trained tiger handler.» The spokesperson emphasized that the park is focused on the support of the team member involved.

The theme park is home to Tiger Island, which has been in operation for nearly 30 years and features Sumatran and Bengal tigers. It offers twice-daily presentations that showcase the tigers’ abilities, allowing guests to observe the animals closely.

This incident follows a history of similar occurrences at tiger attractions in Australia, where handlers have been injured in the past. Dreamworld has stated that a thorough review of the incident will be conducted.
