Tom Barrass Requests Trade to Hawthorn
The West Coast Eagles have officially announced that key defender Tom Barrass has requested a trade from the club. This request was made during his exit meeting held today.
Barrass, a 28-year-old defender, has nominated Hawthorn as his preferred destination. He has played 150 games since being drafted by the West Coast Eagles with pick 43 in the 2013 national draft.
In his career, Barrass has achieved notable recognition, including being a John Worsfold Medallist in 2022 and a member of the All-Australian squad. He was also part of the premiership-winning team in 2018.
General Manager of Football Gavin Bell commented on Barrass’s request, stating, “Tom has today informed us of his desire to pursue an opportunity at another club. While the club respects Tom’s request, he is contracted for another three seasons and our vice-captain.”
Bell further noted that the club will work to meet Barrass’s request while also protecting the best interests of the West Coast Eagles.
The AFL trade period for 2024 is set to commence on October 7.
