Top High School Quarterback Julian Lewis Decommits from USC
Julian Lewis, considered the No. 2 quarterback prospect in the 2025 class, has officially decommitted from the University of Southern California (USC). This development, which sources confirmed to ESPN on Sunday, marks a significant shift in the recruiting landscape for one of the most sought-after players in the nation.
The decommitment from USC was widely anticipated, especially following Lewis’ unofficial visit to the University of Georgia for a game against Tennessee. Lewis, standing 6-foot-1 and weighing 195 pounds, has also shown interest in the University of Colorado throughout his recruitment process. It is expected that he will make a new commitment in the coming weeks and plans to enroll early at his chosen school.
Lewis’ departure is one of several high-profile losses for USC’s 2025 recruiting class. Over the past week, the Trojans have seen verbal commitments flip, including four-star defensive lineman Xavier Muhammad to Miami and cornerback Derrick Allen to Auburn. USC had previously been ranked ninth in ESPN’s 2025 class rankings before Lewis’ recent decision.
The Trojans’ loss of Lewis coincided with four-star Texas A&M quarterback prospect, Michael Longstreet, flipping his commitment to USC. USC quarterbacks coach Luke Huard was notably present at Longstreet’s recent playoff game, underscoring the program’s interest. Longstreet’s recruitment seems to have gained momentum with his recent performances, including a visit to the Trojans during their game against Nebraska. His decision to join USC marks another turning point in this recruiting cycle.
Lewis initially committed to USC in August 2023, following a standout freshman season at Carrollton High School in Georgia, where he threw for 4,118 yards and 48 touchdowns, leading his team to the state title game. His early success earned him the distinction of the top prospect in the 2026 class before reclassifying to 2025.
As the early signing period approaches on December 4, Lewis is now set to re-enter the field as one of the nation’s top uncommitted prospects, with schools like Colorado, Georgia, and Indiana eager to secure his talents.
