The Olympic Games are officially kicking off in Paris, and you better believe that bars across Toronto are getting set to roll out the red carpet for sports fans. With CBC covering all the thrilling action, it’s time to find a spot to cheer on Team Canada!

One standout player in the bar scene is Peaches, a women’s sports bar that’s been buzzing with excitement this year thanks to the Professional Women’s Hockey League and the Women’s National Basketball Association. The bar has decided to open early at 11 a.m. so folks can come and cheer for Canada’s incredible women athletes.

“It’s a really exciting thing for us because this is our first Olympics since we’ve opened,” shared co-owner Veronica Saye. “This is a new experience for us, so we’re interested to see what the level of interest is.” She’s particularly thrilled about the growing support for female, non-binary, and queer athletes, ensuring that the sound will be on for every women’s event they broadcast.

This Olympics, Canadians are rooting hard for swimmer Summer McIntosh, who recently crushed her own world record in the 400-metre individual medley during the Olympic trials. On the men’s side, Markham’s Andre De Grasse is ready to sprint for gold in the 100m, and his race is going to be displayed across the enormous 10-metre screen at Real Sports, right in downtown Toronto.

If you’re hoping to catch these exciting events live at the bar, take note from Matthew Valentine, the senior director of strategy operations at Real Sports. “If you want to watch some of the bigger marquee events, make a reservation,” he advised, to ensure you get a good spot among fellow fans.

The Olympic Games in Paris will continue until August 11, so there are plenty of opportunities to celebrate and cheer for our athletes!
