Tracy-Ann Oberman is set to make her comeback to the popular British soap opera, EastEnders, after nearly two decades. The actress will reprise her role as the infamous character Chrissie Watts, last seen on the show in 2005.

Chrissie Watts, portrayed by Oberman, left a lasting impact during her 18-month stint on Albert Square, especially through her tumultuous relationship with Dirty Den, played by the late Leslie Grantham, and his adopted daughter Sharon, portrayed by Letita Dean.

Since her time on EastEnders, Oberman has ventured into various acting projects, including roles in Doctor Who, After Life, and Friday Night Dinner as Auntie Val. She also showcased her talent in theatre, recently starring as Shylock in a retelling of Shakespeare‘s The Merchant of Venice 1936.

Oberman has already started filming scenes for her EastEnders return, which are scheduled to air in the autumn. The actress expressed her excitement about revisiting the complex character of Chrissie Watts, known for being both a victim and a villain.

Executive producer Chris Clenshaw teased that Chrissie’s return will bring about significant drama to Albert Square, hinting at the character’s troubled past and her unforgettable history with Dirty Den. Clenshaw remained secretive about the exact storyline, promising that chaos ensues whenever Chrissie Watts is in the vicinity.
