Tracy Cortez faced a unique challenge during her weigh-in for the main event flyweight fight against Rose Namajunas. Requiring to shed off around half a pound to hit the 126-pound mark, Cortez resorted to an unconventional method – cutting off a fistful of her hair to make weight.

With the hair clip in hand, Cortez successfully met the required weight of 126lbs before the fight scheduled in Denver. Originally set to go against Maycee Barber, Namajunas stepped in as Barber withdrew due to health reasons.

Post the unique weigh-in incident, Cortez expressed her determination, stating, «No hesitation. We’ll do whatever it takes. This is a big opportunity.» The 30-year-old fighter boasts an impressive record of 11-1 with 11 consecutive victories, while Namajunas holds the favorite status in betting at minus-200.

Namajunas, a former strawweight champion, aims to elevate her position in the flyweight division ranks. The matchup at Ball Arena marks UFC’s return to Denver after six years, headlined by the clash between Namajunas and Cortez.
